Are You Into Leather?

When asked, " Do you like leather?", many people envision tall muscular men and women yielding whips and making demands.

Others recall Marlon Brando perched on a huge motorcycle.

There are many relatively tame, law abiding citizens who are designing items with leather that could be considered works of art.

Animal hides has protected us from the elements for thousands of years and the use of exotic animal skins in fashion shows has been known to result in blood soaked models!

Leather and suede painted with zebra and leopard patterns is a much better way to enjoy the beauty of exotic animal skins.

Crafting with cowhide and suede which is more acceptable can turn many projects into something chic and sophisticated.

People have done interesting things while dressed in leather.
OOPS!

I meant to say, people have done interesting things with and to leather, as listed below:

1 Dyed/painted and stamped
2. Stretched
3. Wet, washed and ironed
4. Etched
5. Sewn
6. Molded

Leather's texture and durability can allow one to get quite creative and experimental!

Home decor accents and fashion accessories take on another dimension when designed with leather or suede.

Pillows, jewelry, clothing and furniture made from leather always says style.

There's an artist in Maryland who designs leather corsages and bridal bouquets.

So, crafters, hobbyists, etc,
Instead of working with boring polka dots, tired plaids, bunnies, scrapbooks, plastic, and yarn.

Be daring,
YOU CAN HAVE A LOT OF FUN WITH LEATHER!

But, remember that special leather tools are necessary to ensure professional quality for your finished projects.

Now, Jump to it!
Get into some leather!

Leather Craft Secrets: How to Work with Leather for Fun & Profit

Filed Under (Craft Business, Project Ideas & Articles, Product Reviews) by Loretta on 17-05-2008

This guide will tell you everything you need to know about working with leather including how to profit from your leather products while having fun.

Reader submitted review:

Do I work with leather? Not really but I know someone who does. He loves to make all sorts of things out of leather. In fact he spends most of his free time in his garage working away on these little projects. I notice though that most of his projects were just left hanging in the garage. I decided he needed a little push to do something with all this so I got him this book.

After spending about an hour looking and reading he got the idea he could sell his products for a little money. Just exactly what I wanted him to figure out.

As he read more and more he began to talk about how doing this could be easier or doing that might make a difference in the finished product. He just went on and on about all the neat things he was learning. That’s when I knew I had made a good investment.

Next thing I knew he was talking to people about his new business venture and how he could have fun while making money. He showed me some of the things he had made using some of the ideas in this guide and they were pretty good. He complimented the author on how he made it seem so simple and easy to do. He even said that hopefully someday he could be that good.

I decided to take a look and see for myself why this book was so special to him. He was right. By answering questions from everyday people like you and I about working with leather the author had found a way to make this interesting and fun. He made sense with his answers and they were so easy to follow.

Before long I wanted to help with the leather craft and business. Of course I wasn’t a welcome part of the garage but hey that’s ok. He’s making some extra money, having fun and has a new enjoyment on an old hobby. That’s enough for me and we’re both happy that I found this ebook.

Some of the Benefits of Leathercrafting

With Christmas quickly approaching, obviously a great benefit of leather crafting is the ability to create some personalized gifts for some of your loved-ones. I have found that such gifts are appreciated immensely. For one to take the time and put forth the effort for such an endeavor shows a great appreciation for that person. The one receiving the present is aware not only of the value of the item (hand-crafted leather products are often expensive) but the sacrifice of time and labor taken to produce such a good. It's truly a labor of love!

There are many other benefits to the leather crafting hobby. I will touch on more of these in the near future. So for those of you who have tinkered with the idea of exploring such a hobby, be encouraged! You can do it! Some of you may not know if you really have what it takes to pursue this hobby. The key ingredient in leather working is patience! If you have a little patience and can follow step-by-step instructions then, like was true in my case, you may discover talents within that you never knew existed.
